This is a new era in implant dentistry which involves the introduction of three-dimensional (3d) virtual evaluations using 3d tomography scanning. Our technology is now used for 3d diagnosis, virtual treatment planning and designing 3d printed surgical guides for an extremely precise and successful dental implant placement.
The benefits of treatment planning and placing implants using this technology are enormous. We can fully examine the patient’s bony anatomy, measure the width and height of bone available, distances between planned implants and even pre-plan phase two of treatment.

Full Mouth All-on-six
‘ALL ON SIX’ PROCEDURE
An all-on-six is the best way to restore an arch of missing teeth using six dental implants and a hybrid, custom made fixed denture. This type of treatment gives the patient strong, durable teeth again, meaning chewing steak, biting apples and enjoying a good belly aching laugh with friends is once again possible.
First Trip to Lima
On this trip, you’ll have the surgical part of treatment completed which includes the removal of any remaining teeth, possible bone graft and tissue regeneration, plus implant placement. Typically, six dental implants are placed if all teeth are missing in an arch. We have great techniques in modern dentistry which allows us to do this treatment during one session so that healing occurs at the same time without the need to go back later and perform additional surgery or take another course of medication.
Treatment happens under sedation so that you are comfortable and relaxed.
Time in Lima? You need to stay for 7 – 10 days so that we can place your dental implants and monitor the initial stages of healing before discharging you.
Second Trip to Lima
After at least 3 months have passed, allowing time for bone to integrate with the dental implants, you return for phase two of treatment. This is where the magic happens and we begin to fabricate the teeth.
It’s a process similar to engineering, with lots of little parts involved and appointments most days of the week for tests and fittings. We’ll also do bite alignment and many adjustments to make sure everything fits perfectly. Then, once the lab, doctors and you are satisfied with everything feeling and looking great, the final touch-ups, polishing and placement happens.
Time in Lima? You must stay for a minimum of 3 weeks to allow for this phase of treatment to be correctly completed.
We like to think that if it’s worth doing then it’s worth doing it right, and like everything in life the importance of planning cannot be over emphasized. This is why we use the latest in 3D CT scan imaging for implant planning. These images are ready for evaluation in just two minutes.
This is when a treatment plan suited to your unique requirements takes shape.
During the planning phase, these high definition images in 3D are used to evaluate surrounding supporting tissue, any remaining teeth, bone level, bone density, nerve proximity and to also plan each implant placement, including:
- Type of dental implant
- Length of dental implant
- Width of dental implant
- Placement area of the implant
- The angle of implant placement
- And the final position of teeth which are placed later, on stage two.
During this planning phase with 3D imaging, we will know whether you need complimentary treatments or not. For implant surgeries, this may include any or all of the following:
- Bone graft
- Tissue regeneration
- Sinus lift
- 3D printed surgical guide
Single Tooth Digital Implants:
Digital Dental Implants in 2018
Now with digital implantology, we could easily see where it was going. More importantly, we could see how it would benefit our patients and our practice, adding 100% precision and predictability to every single procedure.
Digital implantology – it’s about digital, virtual implant planning, knowing exactly how and where the implant is to be placed and the real magic comes when you put everything together to minimize patient trauma and patient visits while still delivering a superb level of care and treatment.
John came to us seeking a second opinion after his regular dentist told him that he needs an extraction and bone grafting. Some months later, after that had time to heal, he’d go back for the next phase which was to place the implant (this meant a second operation on the same area). Even more months later, he’d go back yet again to get impressions taken, wait for lab work to be complete and on another appointment some two or three weeks later, get his final crown and finish treatment.
Total treatment time? About twelve months. Wow!
However, John wanted a different solution, a more conservative approach. This is when he decided to visit our clinic.
We take a 3D scan of the mouth in HD and share with John exactly how we can place an implant on the same day that we remove the tooth. With a virtual implant image selected by the computer software, we show him the exact position, size and angle of the implant we are going to place and put this into his 3D image, ensuring perfect implant placement planning.
Seeing this technology in action and being involved in his treatment planning from step one, John decides to move forward with treatment that same day and opts to be comfortable using our expert oral sedation option. Once ready, we remove the tooth and then place the implant in to position as previously planned, adding bone graft material as needed.
After time is allowed for the implant to integrate with the jaw bone, John then came back for the final stage of implant treatment where we took a very fast, easy and non-invasive digital impression with our 3D CAD CAM scanner. A full ceramic crown (or E.Max or Zirconium) plus a zirconium abutment connection was custom designed and fabricated there and then, on just one short session followed by placement to complete treatment. Total treatment time? Two appointments!!
